- The Democratic-Farmer-Labor party is the Democratic Party in Minnesota
- The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) was created on April 15, 1944 when the Minnesota Democratic Party and Farmer-Labor Party merged to create the DFL. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey was instrumental in this merger.
- The first district is composed of 22 counties in Southern Minnesota that extend from the western border with South Dakota to the eastern border with Wisconsin.
